To relax the body and mind in preparation for singing. The most natural way to begin any warm-up is with stretching, yawning and vocalizing sounds that are not necessarily connected to any specific pitch. Stretching releases muscular tension and at the same time brings new blood to the muscles involved in breathing and articulation.
What to listen for:
You will note that the guide vocals make a variety of sounds - lip trills, vocal slides, and others. Feel free to make up your own. Remember to work within YOUR comfort zone.
Use before auditioning or before any kind of performance. You would most likely be amazed at the strange (even "unearthly") sounds that come out of singers and actors before they go on stage. Develop your own routine.
