What is Vocalizing?

Just as a professional football player or Olympic gymnast warms up their muscles before an event – so a singer also warms up the voice before singing. Singing is also an athletic event no matter how small or big the muscle groups being used. Warming up the voice prevents injury for athletes and singers.  Professional speakers and actors warm up their voices and many of them do so by singing scales or humming.

It is dangerous to take your voice for granted. When you have a performance, you need to say hello to the breathing muscles, take your voice out for a trial run and see how it’s feeling on that day. Our voices functions differently from day to day. Sometimes you may feel vocally invincible but other days, you may be a bit tired or perhaps you ate the wrong food and your stomach is not at it’s best. Maybe your sensitive to allergens or your experiencing a sudden change in climate. All these factors have an influence on you and therefore on your voice. We developed our vocalises to take the drudgery out of this activity. Each exercise is unique. Some of them are silly, some jazzy and some just plain beautiful. Choose you favorites, mix them up the way you prefer to warm up you singing voice, and then—GO BE A STAR!
